This is some kind of master studies or learning after Japanese piece of art. I have found Japanese ink painting and tried to paint something similar, but in watercolors. 
Unfortunately, I can't find it now, so I can't give the references. I hope you'll forgive me.

Very beautiful, looks simplistic but then again it works really well, and those bamboo sticks have been done very nicely!!
